Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where do you go?
A. For our door-to-door service, we operate within the Northshore Senior Center service area: Bothell, Kenmore, and Woodinville, as well as to medical offices around Evergreen Hospital and Juanita. On Fridays, we also provide shopping trips to area stores.
Q. When do you operate?
A. We operate Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Our reservation hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are closed for holidays and during severe weather conditions.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. We request a dollar donation per trip. Inability to donate will not affect your service.
Q. What do I need to do to qualify?
A. We primarily serve individuals who are also eligible for ADA paratransit -- such as Metro Access or Community Transit DART -- and are unable to use a regular bus. We also provide service to people who may qualify for paratransit while they go through the eligibility process. We have application forms available for both Metro and DART.
Q. Why does someone need to be eligible for Access or DART?
A. Having paratransit eligibility helps pay for the cost of your trip when you ride our mini-buses and is a major part of our funding. The transit agencies pay Northshore Senior Center to provide your trip rather than the higher cost of using their buses.
Q. How do I request a ride?
A. Phone (425) 286-1026 during our reservation hours. Have the following information ready:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your complete pick-up address, including apartment or unit number
- Description and exact address of where you want to go, for instance, Evergreen Senior Health at 11521 NE 128th Street, Suite 100
- Time and date you would like to travel
- Times of any appointments you might have, so we can plan your drop-off and pick-up times.
- If an escort or guest will be riding with you
- Whether you will be using an aid, such as a wheelchair, walker or oxygen
You can request a ride from one business day before your ride up to two weeks in advance. Requests are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
Q. Where do the Friday shopping trips go?
A. Trips leave Northshore Senior Center and rotate travelling to stores in Bothell Canyon Park, Woodinville, Kenmore and Lake Forest Park Town Center, or Alderwood Mall. If we have time, we may able to pick you up directly from your home. We may also bring you to the Senior Center to catch the bus.
